Fort York Blvd. is a new street was built in downtown Toronto. It runs north from Lake Shore Blvd. just east of the Princes' Gates then curves east under the Gardiner Expressway and then ends at Bathurst Street. There are bike lanes along this street. Unlike most bike lanes in the city, they were not shoe-horned in later, they were included in the original design. This makes for nice clear bike lanes that do not have to weave around parked cars.

This shot is looking east toward the Armoury on Strachan Avenue

There is one peculiarity with the bike lane where it ends at Lake Shore Blvd. On the south side of Lake Shore there is an off road trail that connects to the Martin Goodman Trail in Coronation Park. Getting to this connection from the bike lane is a bit tricky. If you are riding south toward the intersection of Fort York Blvd. and Lake Shore Blvd, the bike lane ends at a small ramp that brings the cyclist onto the sidewalk. You can't cross directly to the trail. You have to cross to the east side of the intersection and then cross Lake Shore Blvd where you can join the path.

This is the intersection of Fleet Street and Fort York Blvd. In the distance you can see the intersection at Lake Shore Blvd. where the bike lane ends at a ramp.

Traveling the other direction from the path to the bike lane on Fort York Blvd. is not a problem since you can ride from the terminus of the path directly across Lake Shore Blvd. into the bike lane.

Looking north from the path on the south side of Lake Shore Blvd. you can see the start of the bike lane on Fort York Blvd.

These lanes are part of route 'T41' in the Bike Plan and will apparantly connect with an extended Bremner Blvd. one day.
