Yes. This is correct. At a City committee meeting on Thursday March 1st Councillor Joe Pantalone introduced a motion to restore the $108,000 to the budget submission. This motion was passed. Thanks is due to Councillor Pantanlone for his action on this issue and to Jack Layton and his staff for recognizing the problem in the first place. Also thanks to all those who phoned or wrote their Councillors to express your support for restoring the cycling budget.

This does not mean we are totally out of the woods yet. There are still a few more steps before all of the budget submissions are approved and the final budget is approved by Council. We will have to keep our eye on this. There is also the matter of the $150,000 to expand the Ambassador's is still an issue. This was rejected for inclusion in the budget submission with direction to look for other sources of funding. In the past some of the money to run the Ambassadors program was received from other levels of government. There is no guarantee that that money will be forthcoming. Including the $150,000 in the City of Toronto budget would give the program a guaranteed future.
