The Toronto North Community Council takes the former City of North York. The wards that will be in this Community Council are wards 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 23, 24, 25, 26, 33, 34. North York does not have a lot of on street cycling infrastructure compared to the former cities of Toronto or Etobicoke. Most of the existing Bikeway Network routes are paths thru the ravines of the Don River, Black creek and others. There are many opportunities in North York to expand the Bikeway network. One dream in the minds of many residents of the City is a path through the Finch Hydro Corridor. The Bike Plan proposes an off road path that would run from the Black Creek Trail sytem in the West to Neilson in the East. It would pass by York University, and connect to the Don River Trail system. This would be the Northern version of the Martin Goodman Trail and form part of a grand circle route around the city. You can see this route, marked as N15 and N10, on the Proposed Bikeway Network Map for District 3 (Bikeway Network Map- District 3). If councillors are elected who share that dream then work could start on that project. We have not received all surveys from all candidates in these wards. You can see the list of all candidates for all wards at the following link: All Candidates List. We have included e-mail addresses for all the candidates we could find addresses for. You can contact those who didn't fill out the survey. You can ask them to outline their views on the Bike Plan. Ask them the questions on our survey.(Ward Candidate Survey-PDF) Better yet encourage them to return their survey to vote2003@biketoronto.ca. If they did not receive a copy they can send an e-mail to the same address and we will send one for them to fill out. If there is not an e-mail address listed we were not able to find one for them. If you see one of these missing e-mail addresses on a piece of campaign literature, a lawn sign or a newspaper add send it in to us and we will send a survey to them.
