The plans for Toronto's Waterfront include a new 13 acre park located at the north west corner of the Portlands called Commissioner's Park. The park is intended to be an "active recreation park which will be both a local and regional resource." What form this will take and what activities will be undertaken will be the subject of this consultation meeting.

The meeting details are here:

Tuesday, April 13, 2004
Novotel Hotel - Champagne Ballroom
45 The Esplanade, Toronto
7:00 - 9:30 p.m.

You can see an announcement of the meeting at the following link. Commissioners Park: Public Forum #1 (PDF)

One type of facillity that a local cyclist, Charles Bonnaffon, is lobbying for is a Portlands Cycling Centre which would feature an indoor professional velodrome and outdoor community velodrome. You can see his proposal at the following web page Portlands Cycling Centre. This is one of, I am sure many proposals that will be made for the area. It would be fitting that the park have a cycling focus. It will be located at the intersection of three of Toronto's major Bikeway Routes: the Martin Goodman Trail, the Don Trial and the Lake Shore Blvd. East Path. If you want to have a say as to what will be built here make sure to attend the meeting.
