Update to:
Martin Goodman Trail extreme makeover Posted: Aug-02-05

The agency responsible for developing Toronto's waterfront, the Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation (TWRC) , will be hosting a consultation meeting to go over their plans for improving the Martin Goodman Trail from Marilyn Bell Park in the West to Leslie Street in the east. Details of the meeting are below:

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005
6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Salon 103, National Trade Centre
Exhibition Place
100 Princes' Blvd

For more details on the meeting you can see the announcement from the TWRC: Waterfront Trail Public Forum (PDF). This is a followup from the first public forum that was held on July 13, 2005. You can see the presentation from that meeting at the following link: Martin Goodman Trail - Public Forum Presentation - July 13, 2005. There are some exciting proposals in the initial presentations that will deal with some of the deficiencies in the Martin Goodman Trail. However, some of the preliminary designs could create new problems for cyclists. One included a wide promenade along the water's edge that has no demarcation for areas for pedestrians and cyclists. You can see a previous article for more information on this issue. Martin Goodman Trail Makeover. This Wednesdays meeting will have the revised designs and hopefully these problems have been dealt with.

This meeting will be a good chance to see what the future holds for Toronto's waterfront trail and give you an opportunity to have a hand in shaping it.
