Update to:
Queen's Quay Martin Goodman Trail open to cyclists Posted: Aug-13-06
There are many events this week celebrating the opening of the central waterfront section of the Martin Goodman Trail. This weekend there is one geared to kids. A Children's Bike Parade will be held this Saturday August 19th, 2006 at 10:30 am. Participants are asked to arrive at 10:00 am at Spadina and Queen's Quay where the parade will start to register. Full details are in the Toronto Waterfront Revitilization Corporation announcement quoted below. Children and their families are invited to celebrate biking on Toronto's Central Waterfront! As part of Quay to the City's extension of the Martin Goodman Trail and celebration of biking, the Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation is holding a kids bike decorating contest and parade on Saturday August 19. The parade will start at Spadina and Queens Quay. A “Zoose-Mobile” (see below) will lead the children across the Martin Goodman Trail extension to York Quay where there will be treats for everyone and prizes for the best decorated bikes. Face painters, kids tattoo artists, balloon clowns and strolling performers will provide additional entertainment. Prize categories include: - Best overall bike
- Best Toronto theme
- Best environmental theme
- Best sport theme
Date: Saturday August 19 Location: Southside of Queens Quay just west of Spadina Registration 10:00 a.m. Parade Start 10:30 a.m. You can see information about other events at the TWRC's Quay to the City: Summer 2006 web page. Martin Koob tcc-rep@tbn.ca
