1) Are you familiar with the Toronto Bike Plan and as Mayor will you support its implementation of as one means of reducing car dependance as outlined in Toronto's Official Plan?Strongly Support
Comments: Yes i strongly support any vision of more bicycle use.

2) Would you support requests to amend bylaws to exempt bicycles from traffic calming turn restrictions and entry restrictions on streets?Strongly Support
Comments: Yes, strongly approve and support.

3) Do you support measures to ensure that the City of Toronto's policy of keeping bike lanes clear of snow is carried out; and would you support expanding this policy to off road paths?Somewhat Support
Comments: A bicycle is not a safe or convenient form of winter transportation when there is snow or icy conditions. It would be unfair for any adminstration on this planet with these types of conditions to commit itself 100% on such a risky and costly policy onto paths as well. Keeping bike lanes that have the help of car exausts (much to our dismay if we do not get rid of them within the city limits) nearby and plows to help must be kept. Tricycles would be a better safer winter venue.

4a) To build the Bikeway Network over the next three years, the Bike Plan recommends that the following amounts be spent by the Works and Emergency Services to build new bike lanes, paths and signed Bike Routes, and by Parks and Recreation to build new bike paths.
YearWorks and Emergency Services% of Works Capital BudgetParks and Recreation% of Parks Capital Budget
2004$3.0 M1.23%$1.2 M1.66%
2005$4.5 M1.85%$1.2 M1.66%
2006$6.0 M2.46%$1.5 M2.08%
** Based on 2003 Parks capital budget of .1 M
* Based on 2003 Works capital budget of .67 M
Will you support the above budget requests to implement the Bike Plan?Strongly Support
Comments:

5) Do you support streamlining the approval process for bike lanes in order to reduce the delay between the proposal and the completion of new bike lanes?Strongly Support
Comments: Yes strongly approve.

6) Do you support improved integration between Cycling and The Transit system by such measures as: Bike carrying racks on TCC Buses, and, building secure bike parking facilities at TCC stations?Somewhat Support
Comments: Our biggest problem in Torontos TTC is that the Subway system is the heart or central node of its operation. Bringing bicycles may cause more of an inconvenience to many then the overall benefits. I do not see the need for any type of "lockers" at any of our facilities. Regular in already use lock up racks are sufficient enough. If people have $3,000 toys then they should bring them inside and ride them only where destinations permit those safe havens.

7) Do you support an expanded city-funded bicycle safety program for adults and children?Somewhat Oppose
Comments: somewhat oppose; Here lies my answer. Common sence taught down from parents and older riders should be the main source of education for young riders. It is the automobile drivers that have to realize that bicycles will and must be the way of the 21st century and beyond. As we will see less and less cars on the roads, the cyclists will have more ample room to learn and enjoy.

8) Would you support dedicating more resources to promote bicycle commuting by employees of private and public sector employers, including City of Toronto staff?Strongly Support
Comments: Strongly support but dictated primarily by the weather. A big problem here is that we have allowed everyday commuters to live so far away from their work and the bicycle in many cases cannot be intergrated or promoted. As well as resources to expand the bringing in a larger populace into the city core where many of the so called mankind created jobs are are counter productive to this must cause. $400 million to increase the GO system so that people can live in one location and commute 30 or more kms to a place of work. Everyone should work, play and learn/teach within a 30 minute walk or bike ride from where they live.

9) Would you support initiatives to promote Toronto as a Bicycle Tourism destination?Strongly Support
Comments: strongly support; In most seasons. If we go more the way of paperless as i hope we plan to if elected and no more unnecesary junk is brought into the city, then the number of service vehicles and trucks would make it a more pleasant place to ride in. For those living here and visiting.

10) Would you support the extension of the former City of Toronto's Zoning Bylaw regarding Bicycle Parking Requirements (which requires bike parking facilities as well as shower and change facilities) to cover all new commercial and residential buildings across the rest of the Megacity?Somewhat Oppose
Comments: If we re-arranged so called work, play, learn/teach locations within 30 minutes of most residences then showers in most cases would not be needed. We should address the most basic problems and not find solutions to created ones.
